Newspapers: The Monte Vista Journal is a weekly community newspaper located at 835 First Avenue and can be reached at 719-852-3531. The Valley Courier, a daily paper out of Alamosa also provides news service to the Valley. The major Colorado newspapers are available by subscription or at the newsstand.

Radio:

KSLV is a locally based AM and FM radio station serving the entire Valley. KSLV's AM is located at 1240 on the dial and is a country format. Their FM is located at 95.3 and is a light rock station. KSLV is located at 109 Adams, Monte Vista, CO 81144, (719) 719-852-3581. KGIW and KALQ are also on the air in the Valley. KGIW AM is located at 1450 on the dial and is also country. Rock station, KALQ FM is located at 93.5. KRZA at 88.7 FM is public radio with numerous formats and programs throughout the day.

KRZA is the locally operated public radio station.Originally conceived in the mid-70’s, KRZA was the brainchild of a collective of women in the San Luis Valley who felt the need for an outlet that would serve the area’s Hispanic community. The Colorado Migrant Council donated the use of the second floor of the building on 9 th and State in Alamosa and KRZA signed on the 27 th of October, 1985. KRZA broadcasts national programming such as Democracy Now, All Things Considered, Performance Today in addition to a diverse lineup of programming.

Television:
